The Energy Group has a wealth of experience in all aspects of energy work from oil & gas and electricity to renewable forms of energy. It counts amongst its clients major industry players, sponsors and funders from across the energy sector. The Group has excellent industry knowledge due to working closely with clients in the sector, including various secondments by members of the firm.
The Group is led by Jonathan Hewitt, a Partner in the Company & Commercial Department and is a multi disciplinary team containing members from across the firm’s practice areas.
We advise on all aspects of development projects in the energy sector such as new power generation facilities, distribution facilities and renewable energy schemes including combined heat and power projects.
We also advise on the legal issues arising out of ongoing projects, including the acquisition and disposal of interests in existing projects and negotiating long term supply contracts.
Reflecting the increased emphasis on renewable energy in the industry generally due to political and environmental pressures, our renewables work spans advising on offshore and onshore wind farms, landfill gas exploitation, biodiesel and other biofuels facilities and waste disposal and waste to energy schemes.
In addition, we advise on the regulatory aspects of the industry from energy trading to renewables obligations and environmental and health and safety issues.
