Alison has acted for a variety of local authorities, including Gateshead Council and Durham County Council undertaking employer, public and occupier liability claims. She has acted in that capacity since 1998, dealing with a variety of claims from straightforward slipping cases to more complex accident at work claims and claims brought against the social services and the education department of the local authorities.

Since 1991 Alison has also acted for a number of self-insured utility companies, including electricity and water companies post-privatisation. This has included all forms of health and safety and risk management advice, as well as a variety of personal injury claims.

Alison has worked for City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Trust for seven years. Her advice relates to various personal injury claims and, until recently, clinical negligence claims. Alison also advises the Trust on risk management issues.

She has also acted for Freeman Hospitals NHS Trust prior to the formation of the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust. Her work included clinical negligence and personal injury claims.
