    Claire-Jane is qualified to practice as a solicitor in Scotland, as well as England and Wales, and has experience of presenting Employment Tribunal cases throughout the UK. Claire-Jane is particularly interested in advising employers in relation to industrial relations issues, all aspects of organisational change (including harmonisation of working practices, redundancy and consulting and negotiating with trade unions) and the impact of the TUPE Regulations.

Claire-Jane advised this employer in connection with unofficial and official strike action, including negotiations with trade unions and the procedures to be followed to pursue injunctions in England and interdicts in Scotland. She also advised this employer in connection with over 300 joined union-backed Tribunal claims relating to changes in terms and conditions of employment.

Local Authority client

Claire-Jane co-ordinates the employment law support provided to this local authority client in relation to the employment issues arising from outsourcing, PPP and PFI schemes, Employment Tribunal claims, liaising with the Council’s in-house legal team and the relevant service departments.

Local Authority client

Claire-Jane leads the team of Dickinson Dees solicitors who provide advice to local authority clients in relation to equal pay and other employment issues, including Employment Tribunal claims, industrial relations issues and the standardisation of employment terms, conditions and pay structures.

Civil Defence Authority client

Claire-Jane advised the Authority on the employment aspects of its scheme to develop a new brigade headquarters and a number of new fire stations. This involved advising on the setting up of, and operating, a successful data room, providing support during negotiations with trade unions and the private sector bidder and drafting and negotiating the employment sections of the Project Agreement.

Claire-Jane leads our staffing and recruitment team which provides specialist advice to employment agencies and employment businesses throughout the UK.

The work of the team includes advising on:

• Issues concerning the employment status of temporary workers
• The enforcement of restrictive covenants
• Data protection issues
• The impact of the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations
• Discrimination issues
• Employment Tribunal claims
• Contractual disputes with workers and clients

The team holds regular training sessions for clients in the staffing and recruitment sector and provides legal updates on issues of interest/recent case law on request.
