- Neil is a Partner and Head of the EU and Competition Team at Dickinson Dees. Neil is an expert in all areas of EU and UK competition law. Following the introduction of the Competition Act 1998, Neil acted on the first ever UK dawn raid and subsequently on the first ever cartel investigation. He has designed and implemented numerous compliance programmes for clients.
Neil has led teams in numerous merger clearance applications, both to The Office of Fair Trading and the European Commission. He also undertakes funding work, utilising his knowledge of State aid rules and acting for granting authorities, recipients and complainants.
Experience
Neil’s recent work has been focused on the areas of merger clearance and funding. He led the team which secured a merger clearance for Govia’s acquisition of the Integrated Kent Rail Franchise in unique circumstances. He has been assisting an interested third party in relation to a European Commission Phase II merger investigation. He has also been instrumental in the creation of a regional loan fund and a regional venture capital fund for small and medium size enterprises, ensuring compliance with EU State aid rules.
