    Nigel Williams is a partner in our corporate department. Nigel qualified in 1991, joining Dickinson Dees in 1996. Having become a partner in 1999, Nigel went on to establish Dickinson Dees' Stockton office, our first ever office outside Newcastle. The office is now eight years old and offers the full range of commercial law services to a wide range of public and private sector clients.

    Nigel specialises in corporate finance as well as mainstream commercial advisory work for both the public and private sectors. On the corporate finance side, Nigel covers:

    • Owner managed business sales
    • Corporate acquisitions and disposals
    • Management buy-outs
    • Joint ventures and company start ups.

    Recent transactions include:

    • advising the shareholders of Bells Stores Limited when they sold to Sainsbury's plc
    • acting on the diposal of AHED Limited to BSS Group plc
    • acting on the sale of New Century Inns Limited to Greene King plc
    • advising Wilton Engineering Services on its acquisition of PD&MS Limited


    Nigel's public sector work involves advising on the establishment of corporate vehicles for the not for profit sector and in relation to mergers of such entities. Recent work includes:

    • advising the local authority shareholders on their procurement of a private sector partner for Durham Tees Valley Airport

    • advising the local authority members in relation to the establishment of Tees Valley Regeneration the largest urban regeneration company in the country

    • acting as company secretary of Tees Valley Regeneration

    • assisting with the incorporation of the four sub-regional Business Link organisations into Business Link North East
