Expertise

    Simon heads up the non-contentious construction team and provides a managerial and technical overview to all non-contentious construction projects undertaken by the team. He has extensive experience of providing non-contentious legal services to both the private and public sectors. He has a particular expertise in development work and funding, advising on property finance, building contracts, appointments, warranties, partnering arrangements and supply chain management, but is also experienced in partnering heavy civil engineering, process engineering and offshore work.
    Simon also advises the regional chemicals and manufacturing industries on the procurement and installation of plant and machinery. He works closely with the Property Finance and Banking groups. Simon regularly lectures and provides in-house training to clients ranging from funders to RSL's, speaking on such topics as building contracts, appointments, warranties and development funding.

 

Experience

Recent work includes:

• Acting for University of Durham on its award winning 1000 bed Howlands Farm residential accommodation project.

• Acted for University of Durham on Physics Building procurement.

• Advising Home Group Limited nationally on procurement (with particular emphasis on Partnering).

• Advised Bank of Scotland Corporate on the funding of the acquisition of the Hotel du Vin chain by Malmaison (MWB) Hotels.

• Advising Partnerships for Schools on its National Framework for the delivery of Schools and Academies under the Building Schools for the Future programme.
